Hi, I’m Helena

I am a certified Life Coach and a certified Wellness Counselor – specialized in life!

But also professional and personal development, grieving and loss, transitions and changes, trauma informed, relationships, somatic and narrative therapies.

In 2013, I lost my husband to cancer – we spent the last 2.5 years of his life dealing with it. When he passed our son was 5 years old and I dove into over 10 years of interest in grief and grieving – my interest relies not only on adults but kids as well.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and more than 25 years of experience in Public Relations, Media Relations, Communications, and Marketing. My role extended as project manager, website content manager, graphic designer, photographer, public outreach, public relations, media relations, social media manager, journalist, blogger, columnist, marketing, and communications…

In the fall of 2020, I decided to start a new career: certified Life Coach and Wellness Counsellor at Rhodes Wellness College in Vancouver, BC.

A mountaineer since 1991, I moved from Brazil to Calgary in 2005 to be close to the Rockies. I spent 12 years in the Bow Valley with my family, moving to Vernon, BC, in 2020 to be close to some of the best downhill mountain biking in the country.

I acknowledge and appreciate that I live, learn, work and play on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Syilx Nation.

In 2021, I became a Happiness Engineer at Automattic.com, working with WordPress.com—a role that has truly changed my life. Being part of a fully distributed company is fascinating, but what’s even more inspiring is collaborating with some of the most brilliant minds I’ve ever met.

Currently, I am leading a pilot project as a contractor team lead, overseeing a team of eight. My role involves coaching, training, and supporting them in their development—while continuously learning from them.
