Spelt Bread

This is for bread machines and it tastes delicious! Very light – I was expecting more of a heavy bread, like the spelt breads I find in natural stores.

TIP: Spelt contains gluten but it is tolerated by many ‘wheat sensitive’ people.

Spelt Bread

1/2 water

1/2 cup unsweetened apple juice

2 eggs

1 1/2 tsp salt

2 tbsp brown sugar (I used agave nectar)

1 tbsp vegetable oil

3 cups light spelt flour. If using the dark variety, increase the yeast by 1/4 tsp

1/3 cup cornmeal (I didn’t use it)

1 1/4 tsp bread machine yeast

Measure ingredients in the order above and select basic cycle.
